Joint Initiative by Lions Club and Everest to Raise Awareness on Cancer

A seminar and donation programme on childhood cancer and cervical cancer awareness was held at the Lion Humayun Zahir Auditorium in Lions Tower, Agargaon, in the capital. The programme was organised jointly by Lions Clubs International District 315 A2, Bangladesh and Everest Pharmaceuticals PLC on Monday, 14 September 2026, at 6 pm.

One of the global major goals of Lions International is the control of childhood cancer. This programme was organised keeping that goal in mind. The programme was presided over by Lion Anjan Mallick FCA, PMJF. He is the Co-Founder of Everest Pharmaceuticals PLC and Chairman of the Childhood Cancer Committee of Lions Clubs International District 315 A2, Bangladesh.

At the seminar, Professor Dr. Ferdousi Begum, Head of the Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, discussed pediatric cancer. Dr. Suriyana Sultana, Junior Consultant, Department of Clinical Oncology, Delta Hospital, spoke on cervical cancer.

The chief guest at the programme was Lion Mohsin Imam Chowdhury PMJF, District Governor of Lions International District 315 A2, Bangladesh. The special guest was Lion Shankar Kumar Roy MJF, immediate past District Governor. The honoured guests were Lion Imran Faruk Moin PMJF, First Vice District Governor, and Lion Kishowar Khan PMJF, Second Vice District Governor. Also present was A K M Anwarul Haque, CEO and Chairman of Everest Pharmaceuticals PLC. More than two hundred Lions and Leo leaders participated in the programme.

At the programme, cash and gift items were distributed among 11 children suffering from cancer on behalf of Lions Clubs International District 315 A2, Bangladesh and Everest Pharmaceuticals PLC.

The organisers said that through the combined efforts of Lions International District 315 A2, Bangladesh, Everest Pharmaceuticals PLC and everyone in society, greater awareness about cancer can be created. This will help expand the scope of assistance and spread new rays of hope in the lives of children affected by cancer.
