Flute Melodies of Ustad Azizul Islam at Artist Club Lounge in Banani

The first classical music programme of the regular cultural event ‘Iconic Tuesday’ of Artist Club Limited was held at the Artist Club Lounge in Banani, the capital. The programme took place on the evening of Tuesday, 15 September 2026. At the event, the Ekushey Padak-winning renowned flautist Ustad Azizul Islam presented a solo flute performance. Associated with the practice of classical music for more than six decades, this artist presented the tradition and depth of Hindustani classical music before the audience with his unique flute melodies.
At the beginning of the programme, Sujit Mostafa, President of Artist Club Limited, introduced Ustad Azizul Islam to the audience and conducted the entire programme. Ustad Azizul Islam began his performance with Raga Yaman. Thereafter, he successively performed Raga Shree and Raga Koriya Dhanshree. The performance of Raga Hamir, created by poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, was also one of the main attractions of the evening. Alongside this, he captivated the audience by performing Raga Jayjayanti. In the final segment of the programme, he concluded his long musical evening by performing Raga Maru Bihag and two types of Raga Khamaj.
Artist Club Limited was established in 2024 and formally registered as a joint stock company in 2025. Since its establishment, this club has been working as a vibrant platform in the country’s cultural arena. The club has organised more than one hundred cultural evenings, including regular musical programmes every Friday. In these, talented artists from the younger generation to different generations have got the opportunity to participate. This organisation has not only reached audiences within the country but also at the international level. Artist Club Limited is not merely a meeting or gathering; rather, it is an effective institution that consolidates the practice of art through professional development of artists, networking, training, exhibitions, workshops and mentorship.
Present at the programme were Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Member and Advisor of Artist Club, and dancer Munmun Ahmed, along with other distinguished persons from the cultural arena. Anisuzzaman Anis was in charge of the light and sound management of the entire programme.
This programme, organised as part of the ‘Where Artists Stand Together’ philosophy of Artist Club Limited, was the club’s first classical music-based event. The club authorities have also informed that there is a plan to organise ‘Iconic Tuesday’ regularly, keeping music, tradition and mutual connection among artists at the forefront.
