A road safety awareness workshop was held in Hathazari, Chattogram, to raise awareness among students about road safety and help reduce road accidents.

The workshop was organised by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Chattogram, on Tuesday (September 22) at Khandakia Chikondandi Girls’ High School under Hathazari Police Station in Chattogram district.

During the workshop, students were given important guidelines on various aspects of road safety. They were also advised to follow safety rules while travelling on roads and made aware of ways to avoid accidents.

Among those present at the programme were Uthuainu Chowdhury, Deputy Director (Engineering) of BRTA Chattogram District Circle; Md Sirajul Islam, Assistant Director (General) of BRTA Chattogram Divisional Office; Md Alauddin, Motor Vehicle Inspector of the Chattogram District Circle; Shaheda Akter, head teacher of Khandakia Chikondandi Girls’ High School; and Md Nizam Uddin Hakim, chairman of the school’s managing committee, among others.

Following the workshop, an assessment test was held for the participating students. Ninth-grader Nurjahan secured first place, ninth-grader Afifa Saud came second, and tenth-grader Rupa Barman secured third place.

Later, the winning students were awarded prizes by BRTA Chattogram.
