The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) informed Dhaka Post on Sunday, October 11, that five flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, Saudia and Riyadh Air had been cancelled between Saturday and Sunday morning.
According to the report, a US-Bangla Airlines flight that departed Dhaka for Riyadh on Saturday landed at Muscat airport due to the situation at its destination. The aircraft subsequently returned to Dhaka.
The report also said at least 12 people were killed and 309 injured in a missile attack on Riyadh’s international airport on Saturday night. The victims included nationals of Bangladesh and several other countries. Airport operations were suspended following the attack.
At least four attacks have reportedly targeted Riyadh airport over the past week. The report added that Yemen’s Houthi rebels and the Saudi-led military coalition have been engaged in a cycle of attacks and counterattacks for nearly two months.
