Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, has ranked fourth on the list of cities with the most polluted air in the world. At 8:30 am on Thursday (November 5), Dhaka recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 170, classified as 'unhealthy'.
According to data from Swiss-based air quality monitoring organisation IQAir, Lahore in Pakistan topped the list of the world's most polluted cities at that time, with an AQI score of 322. India's capital, New Delhi, ranked second with a score of 274, while Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal ranked third with 196.
According to IQAir's index, an AQI score between 0 and 50 indicates good air quality. A score of 51 to 100 is considered moderate or acceptable. Scores between 101 and 150 are classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups, while readings between 151 and 200 are considered unhealthy for everyone.
Additionally, an AQI score between 201 and 300 indicates very unhealthy air quality, while a score above 301 is classified as hazardous.
