Princh Mondal Olif, Bagerhat District Correspondent:

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced plans to establish more industrial facilities in Mongla as part of the government's ambition to build a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

He said expanding industrialisation and attracting domestic and foreign investment would be essential to achieving the country's long-term economic goals.

The Prime Minister made the remarks on Thursday (November 5) at around 11:30 am during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Invest Bangladesh and China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), a state-owned Chinese enterprise, in Mongla, Bagerhat.

Tarique Rahman said the government was committed to ensuring a stable and investment-friendly environment to encourage both local and international investors to invest in Bangladesh.

He emphasised that creating favourable conditions for investment would play an important role in expanding industrial activities and accelerating economic growth.

Earlier, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh and China signed an MoU on economic and infrastructure cooperation in Mongla.

On behalf of Invest Bangladesh, Saleh Ahmed, a member of the organisation's Industrial Zones Department, signed the agreement. Representing the Chinese side, Li Chongyang, Chairman of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, signed the MoU.

Under the agreement, the two sides will have opportunities to expand investment and economic cooperation across several key sectors, including infrastructure, transportation, logistics, industry, energy, environmental development and skills development.

The initiative is expected to open up new avenues for bilateral investment and cooperation while supporting Bangladesh's broader industrialisation and economic development objectives.

The Prime Minister's announcement highlights Mongla's potential as an important destination for industrial investment and economic expansion as Bangladesh works towards its ambitious 2030 economic target.
