The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and
equivalent examinations for 2026 have begun across Bangladesh. The exams
started Wednesday
at 10:00 AM and will continue until May
20, followed by practical tests scheduled between June 7 and June 14.
This year, more than 1.857 million students
are taking part, marking a notable decrease compared to last year. The exams
are being held simultaneously at 3,885 centers nationwide. As the first public
examination under the new government, the process is being given special
importance.
The exam is going to start with the Bangla subject. Each day’s exam will
begin at 10:00 AM, but students have been instructed to enter their respective
centers by 8:30 AM to avoid traffic-related delays.
According to the exam structure, candidates
will first sit for the multiple-choice (MCQ) section, followed immediately by
the creative (written) portion, with no break in between. The MCQ section will
last 30 minutes, while the written section is allotted 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Education boards have issued several
important guidelines. Students must arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam,
correctly fill out the OMR sheet, and avoid folding their answer scripts under
any circumstances.
The use or possession of mobile phones inside
exam centers is strictly prohibited (except for the center secretary). Students
are allowed to sit only for subjects listed on their registration cards and may
use board-approved calculators where applicable.
To pass a subject, candidates must pass
separately in the creative, MCQ, and practical components. After the results
are published, students will have the opportunity to apply online for
re-evaluation within a specified period.
Education authorities expressed hope that, with proper preparation and administrative measures, the examinations will be conducted smoothly across the country.
