Melania Trump were swiftly evacuated after loud bang-like sounds, believed to
be gunshots, were heard during a dinner event in Washington, D.C..
The incident occurred at the Washington
Hilton, where a formal dinner was being held with White House correspondents
and media representatives in attendance. Witnesses reported hearing several
sudden, explosive sounds, initially suspected to be gunfire.
Security personnel indicated that between
seven and eight shots may have been fired. While there was initial confusion
about the suspect, President Trump later stated on social media that the
individual involved had been arrested.
Following the incident, members of the United
States Secret Service quickly intervened and escorted the President and First
Lady to a secure location. Many guests at the venue were seen taking cover
under tables amid panic. Approximately 2,600 people were present at the event.
A White House official confirmed that the President is safe. However, authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the cause or motive behind the incident.
