A former leader of the
Swechchhasebak Dal was killed following a clash that reportedly erupted during
a local mediation meeting in the Mouchak area of the capital. The deceased,
Billal Hossain Talukdar, was a former convener of the Ramna Thana unit of the Swechchhasebak
Dal.
The incident took place on Monday
night near Anarkali Market in Mouchak. Billal was rushed to Dhaka Medical
College Hospital with critical injuries, where doctors later declared him dead.
Hospital sources said the victim's
body bore signs of injuries caused by a sharp weapon. Following the incident,
the matter was reported to the relevant police station, and an investigation
has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and
identify those involved.
According to family members and
relatives, Billal had gone to the area to participate in a local mediation
meeting. At one stage, an argument reportedly broke out, leading to heightened
tensions. During the altercation, he was allegedly attacked with a sharp
weapon.
Police officials said efforts are
underway to uncover the motive behind the incident and identify the
perpetrators. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The incident has drawn attention in the local area, while law enforcement authorities continue their investigation into the fatal attack.
