Police in Raninagar, Naogaon,
with assistance from local residents, arrested three suspected robbers
during an attempted motorcycle robbery on Friday night along the Raninagar–Atrai
regional highway near Gona Mor.
According to police, a sharp
knife, six mobile phones, and a motorcycle allegedly used in the
robbery were recovered from the suspects. A case was filed the same night,
and the three accused were sent to court on Saturday.
The arrested suspects have been
identified as Faisal Hossain (21), son of Sentu Hossain of Chandipur
Uttar Sardarpara in Naogaon Sadar; Sana Mondal (22), son of Firoz
Mondal; and Rabbi Hasan (19), son of Mamidul Islam, both from Chhatian
village in Adamdighi Upazila of Bogura.
The complainant, Mahabub Alam,
son of Kamal Hossain from Gona Khanpara village, said he was riding his
motorcycle with a passenger from Gona Bazar to Barobaria Bazar at around 9:30
p.m. when a group of seven to eight robbers on three motorcycles
attempted to block his path near Gona Mor.
He alleged that the attackers kicked
and punched him, trying to force him off the motorcycle and steal the vehicle.
As he shouted for help, local residents rushed to the scene, prompting the
suspects to flee.
After being informed, police arrived
and, with the help of local people, chased the suspects and arrested three of
them along with a motorcycle near Khatreshwar Mor.
Mahabub Alam also said that about two
months ago, he had lost another motorcycle to robbers at the same location
after being threatened with locally made weapons.

Mondal of Raninagar Police Station confirmed the arrests. He said police
recovered a sharp knife, a motorcycle used in the crime, and six
mobile phones from the suspects. A robbery case has been filed, and the
accused have been produced before the court following their arrest.
