Located in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, the Godnail Depot of Meghna Petroleum Limited is one of the key facilities in Bangladesh’s state-owned fuel sector. Under the leadership of its current Depot In-Charge, Mahbubur Rahman, the depot has set a notable example in maintaining administrative discipline, ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply and improving the quality of customer service.

Since taking charge, Mahbubur Rahman has brought significant changes to the depot’s long-standing working environment through integrity, competence and forward-looking management.

Administrative Reforms and Greater Efficiency

One of the first initiatives taken by Mahbubur Rahman after assuming responsibility was to ensure complete transparency and accountability in official activities. Breaking away from the traditional culture of delayed file processing and bureaucratic complications, he introduced a “Quick Service” policy.

As a result, a stronger sense of responsibility towards work has developed among the depot’s officers, employees and workers. With routine official tasks being completed on time, the Meghna Petroleum depot is increasingly being recognised as a model facility.

Major Improvements in Fuel Supply and Distribution

Ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply in one of the country’s largest industrial areas is a significant challenge. Depot In-Charge Mahbubur Rahman has tackled this challenge with considerable efficiency.

Reducing Hassles for Dealers:

He has taken effective measures to eliminate unnecessary harassment and complications faced by authorised dealers and businesses coming to collect fuel.

Digital Tracking and Supervision:

Strict monitoring of fuel unloading and loading operations has been strengthened, significantly reducing the risk of irregularities and fuel theft.

Ensuring Accurate Measurement:

He regularly supervises the distribution process to ensure that dealers receive fuel in accurate and proper quantities.

A Disciplined and Worker-Friendly Environment

Mahbubur Rahman has also developed strong coordination with workers’ organisations and employees to maintain discipline within the depot. He believes that sustainable institutional development is impossible without ensuring the wellbeing of workers.

Ensuring Fair Rights:

He has taken steps to ensure facilities, safety and legitimate rights for tanker-lorry drivers and helpers.

Eliminating Discrimination:

He has taken a firm stance against disorder, irregularities and the influence of any unauthorised syndicate within the depot.

Safe Working Environment:

He has instructed the concerned authorities to keep fire-fighting systems and modern emergency rescue equipment ready at all times.

Business Community and Citizens Praise His Initiatives

Mahbubur Rahman’s positive and corruption-free approach to management has earned appreciation from fuel traders, dealer associations and members of the local community in Narayanganj.

According to several local businessmen, collecting fuel in the past often involved various administrative complications. However, such difficulties have now been substantially reduced due to Mahbubur Rahman’s direct supervision and intervention.

Future Plans and His Vision

Speaking about the overall development of the depot, Depot In-Charge Mahbubur Rahman said:

«“It is my fundamental duty to carry out the responsibility entrusted to me by the state with honesty. Meghna Petroleum Limited is a vital pillar of the country’s energy security. Under the clear guidance of the higher authorities, we are working relentlessly to transform Godnail Depot into a modern, corruption-free and customer-friendly facility. To sustain this progress, I seek the cooperation of all concerned dealers, businessmen and workers.”»

Local businesspeople and members of the conscious community believe that if every government institution had officers as honest, competent and patriotic as Mahbubur Rahman, the country’s overall development could be accelerated further.
