Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman of Turag Model Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Uttara Division has been working tirelessly to improve law and order and ensure public safety since taking charge of the station.

Working under the guidance of Uttara Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Mirza Tarek Ahmed Beg, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Al Amin and Assistant Commissioner Md. Mahmudul Haque Rony, OC Mostafizur Rahman has been making continuous efforts to improve the overall security situation and provide services to local residents.

With honesty, efficiency and courage, he has earned appreciation among residents for his role in strengthening the image of Turag Model Police Station. Working alongside police officers and personnel as well as people from different sections of society, he has been taking initiatives to curb crimes including mugging, robbery, murder, abduction and drug-related activities.

His efforts to serve the community have also helped build public confidence in the police, according to local residents.

Speaking to a representative of Dainik Bangladesh Samachar over the phone, OC Md. Mostafizur Rahman said the police station has been conducting various public-awareness programmes and maintaining a strong position against drugs while remaining committed to humanitarian services.

He said he has also tried to stand beside vulnerable people, including orphans, underprivileged and meritorious students, and homeless people.

According to the OC, efforts to make Turag Model Police Station free from intermediaries and strengthen the public image of the police have drawn opposition from some vested-interest groups, alleged criminals, middlemen and drug users who are attempting to tarnish his reputation.

Zero Tolerance Against Drugs

OC Mostafizur Rahman urged residents to cooperate with the police in combating drugs, describing drug addiction as a serious social problem.

He said Turag Model Police Station is committed to implementing a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, in line with the policy of the Bangladesh Police.

Following instructions from Uttara Division Deputy Commissioner Mirza Tarek Ahmed Beg, the police have already prepared and implemented various action plans to intensify the campaign against drug-related activities, he said.

The OC urged residents to provide the police with specific information about drug dealers, their associates and those involved in drug abuse in their respective areas.

He assured residents that the confidentiality of informants would be protected.

“Regardless of how influential a criminal may be, legal action will be taken against them,” OC Mostafizur Rahman said, urging residents to report any criminal activity in their surroundings.

Focus on Public Service

OC Mostafizur Rahman also appealed to residents to work together with the police in the greater interest of society and to protect young people from drugs and crime.

Local residents describe him as approachable and responsive, saying he maintains friendly relations with people from different professions and social backgrounds.

They also appreciate his accessibility and willingness to respond to complaints and legal issues, even outside regular working hours.

Through his efforts to strengthen law enforcement, combat drugs and provide services to vulnerable people, OC Mostafizur Rahman has sought to establish Turag Model Police Station as a police station that remains closely connected with the community.
