An exchange of views meeting was held between
Alhaj Sirajul Islam Siraj, Administrator of Brahmanbaria Zila Parishad and
General Secretary of District BNP, and the journalists of Sarail Upazila Press
Club.
The meeting took place on Monday (17 August)
around 10 a.m. at the Sarail Upazila Press Club office.
Presided over by Parvez Alam Adel, President
of Sarail Upazila Press Club, the chief guest of the meeting was Alhaj Sirajul
Islam Siraj, Administrator of Brahmanbaria Zila Parishad. The programme was
conducted by Sohag Box, news presenter of News24. The welcome speech was
delivered by Alamgir Mia, General Secretary of the Press Club.
At the beginning of the programme, the guests
were welcomed with flowers. The meeting started with the recitation of the Holy
Quran by Maulana Baqi Billah, Imam of Sarail Upazila Model Mosque. On behalf of
the Upazila Press Club, a crest was presented to the chief guest Alhaj Sirajul
Islam Siraj.
Special guests present at the meeting
included Asaduzzaman Shaheen, Senior Organizational Secretary of BNP and Vice
President of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Brahmanbaria; Anisul Islam
Thakur, President of Sarail Upazila BNP and Vice President of District BNP;
Advocate Nuruzzaman Laskar Tapu, General Secretary of Sarail Upazila BNP and
Legal Affairs Secretary of District BNP; Meherun Nessa Meherin, Editor of Daily
Bangalir Kantho and Member of District BNP; Md. Manjur Kader Bhuiyan,
Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station; Abdul Jabbar, Chairman of Sarail
Sadar Union Parishad; and Niaz Mohammad Bitu, President of Brahmanbaria Journalists’
Union.
In the exchange of views meeting, discussions
were held on various important issues including local journalism in Sarail,
development of the area, mutual cooperation between the administration and the
media, and different local problems and potentials.
In his speech as the chief guest, Alhaj
Sirajul Islam Siraj requested the journalists to highlight the various
development activities of the government alongside objective journalism.
The speakers at the meeting identified
various problems of Sarail and emphasized the need for more effective
coordination and cooperation among the administration, public representatives
and the media to resolve them.
At that time, journalists and members of
different levels of Sarail Upazila Press Club were present.
In the concluding stage of the programme, the
organizers thanked the guests and the journalists present. Later, the exchange
of views meeting was declared closed.
