Ansar-VDP Members Receive Rescue and Firefighting Training in Bagerhat

Ansar and VDP members in Bagerhat have received practical training on rescuing people trapped in road accidents, providing first aid and responding to fire emergencies.
The training and demonstration were held at the Bagerhat Ansar office at 10am on Saturday. The programme was conducted by the Bagerhat Fire Station under the leadership of Station Officer Sheikh Mamunur Rashid.
A total of 64 Ansar and VDP members took part in the training, while seven personnel from the Fire Service conducted the practical sessions.
During the programme, participants were trained in techniques for safely rescuing people trapped inside vehicles following road accidents. They were also shown how to provide immediate first aid to injured persons after rescue.
Practical demonstrations were conducted on controlling fires originating from gas cylinders, barrels and other sources. Participants were also briefed on the proper use of firefighting equipment, identifying the nature of a fire and taking immediate safety measures during emergencies.
Station Officer Sheikh Mamunur Rashid said trained personnel at the local level can play an important role in the initial response to accidents, disasters and fires.
He said the main objective of the training was to help Ansar and VDP members remain calm during emergencies and carry out rescue operations quickly and safely using their training.
At the end of the programme, the participants expressed their commitment to working in coordination with the Fire Service during emergencies to minimise casualties and property damage.
