Former Student and MP Mashiur Rahman Honoured at School in Chitalmari

Bagerhat-1 constituency lawmaker and former student of Aruabarni Charpara Government Primary School, Professor Maulana Mashiur Rahman Khan, was accorded a reception at his former school in Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat on Monday.
The reception was organised at the school’s conference room at around 12 noon. The programme was presided over by Md. Mehedi Hasan Khan, president of the school’s ad hoc management committee.
Professor Maulana Mashiur Rahman Khan attended the event as the chief guest. Noted industrialist and social worker Md. Kamrul Islam, Upazila Assistant Education Officer Manas Kumar Talukdar and Superintendent of Chitalmari Alim Madrasa Md. Idrisur Rahman were present as special guests.
Recalling his childhood memories, the lawmaker became emotional several times during his speech. He said that he was once a student of the institution and that the school had a strong reputation in Chitalmari in the past.
“The school was once considered one of the best educational institutions in Chitalmari and was known as a model school. I want to work to restore its lost glory,” he said.
He also assured the teachers and students that necessary initiatives would be taken to improve the school’s infrastructure, building facilities and overall educational environment.
At the end of the reception, students submitted a written application seeking six fans for their classrooms. Responding to their demand, the MP agreed with the students and promised to arrange the fans as soon as possible.
The programme was conducted under the overall supervision of acting headteacher Md. Ferdous Hossain. Teachers, students, local community leaders and dignitaries attended the event.
Md. Saidur Rahman, also known as Selim Khan, vice-president of the school’s ad hoc committee, played a key role in organising the reception through his personal initiative and financial support. He is locally regarded as a compassionate and cooperative person who remains involved in educational and social welfare activities.
Special guest Md. Kamrul Islam is also known locally for his involvement in various social and humanitarian activities. His support for disadvantaged people and participation in community welfare initiatives have contributed to his social acceptance in the area.
The students expressed great enthusiasm at having their former schoolmate and current Member of Parliament among them. The programme ended in an emotional and festive atmosphere, with the MP reaffirming his commitment to the development of his former school.
