Around 10,000 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed to ensure security at 2,727 Durga Puja venues in border areas during the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations.

The personnel will perform security duties from October 16 to 22, according to a report published by Dhaka Post on Tuesday, October 13.

BGB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mahbub Murshed Rahman said an integrated security plan had been adopted for the festival. Under the plan, BGB will conduct regular patrols, intelligence surveillance and coordinated operations with the local administration, police and Durga Puja celebration committees.

Temporary camps may also be established where necessary to provide security assistance quickly in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Regarding the deployment of BGB personnel in Dhaka, he said responsibilities would be determined in line with government directives and requests from the relevant authorities.

If necessary, BGB will coordinate with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the local administration to conduct patrols, provide security support at key locations and respond swiftly to emergencies.

BGB said the necessary preparations had been made to ensure that members of the Hindu community could celebrate Durga Puja safely and without disruption.
