Highlighting the significance of the
holy month of Ramadan, the 44th founding anniversary of the National
Journalists’ Association (Chattogram Metropolitan Branch) was celebrated in
Chattogram. On this occasion, a Khatme Quran, discussion meeting, Iftar and
prayer gathering were organized.
The program was held last Friday at
4:00 pm at CRB Tasfia Garden in Chattogram city. The discussion meeting was
presided over by the President of the Metropolitan Committee, S. M. Ahsanul
Kabir Chowdhury Titu, and moderated by Acting General Secretary Mahbubur Rahman
Shaheen.
Vice-President of the Central
Executive Council of the National Journalists’ Association, Mohammad Khairul
Islam, spoke as the chief guest at the event.
S. M. Aziz, Advisor of the
Chattogram Metropolitan Branch of the National Journalists’ Association,
delivered his speech as the keynote speaker.
Among the special guests were Md.
Masud Alam Sagor, President of the Chattogram Division of the National
Journalists’ Association, Joint Secretary General of the Central Executive
Council, and Chattogram Divisional Bureau Chief of the national daily Bangladesh
Shomachar. Also present was poet, literary figure and essayist, and
President of Bondhu Sahitya Pata, Sayedul Haque.
On behalf of the organization,
greetings were delivered by Engineer Majedul Alam, Shafikur Rahman, Jahangir
Alam Apon and other leaders of the organization.
In his speech, the chief guest said
that the holy month of Ramadan is a month of spiritual discipline. Through
prayers, fasting and acts of worship, people get the opportunity for
self-purification and a special time to seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah
for their sins.
The keynote speaker urged all devout
Muslims to maintain the sanctity of Ramadan and engage more in prayers and
religious devotion.
The special guests stated that the
holy month of Ramadan offers a unique opportunity to attain closeness to
Almighty Allah through worship and self-purification. They also noted that the
month plays an important role in promoting humanitarian values and moral
consciousness.
In his concluding speech, President
S. M. Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury Titu said that the spontaneous participation of
everyone in the Khatme Quran, Iftar and prayer gathering organized on the
occasion of the 44th founding anniversary made the event successful and
meaningful. He thanked all members of the organization and sought their sincere
cooperation to move the organization forward in the future.
After the discussion, several important organizational decisions were taken through an exchange of views to make the activities of the organization more dynamic. Later, the 44th founding anniversary of the National Journalists’ Association was celebrated by cutting a cake, followed by special prayers and supplications for the welfare of the country and the nation.
