Chitalmari Police Send 10 to Court, Reunite Missing Youth with Family

In separate operations conducted by Chitalmari Police in Bagerhat, a mentally challenged young man was rescued and returned to his family, while 10 individuals involved in drug-related cases, arrest warrants, and mobile court cases were sent to court.


According to police sources, based on General Diary (GD) No. 781 of Mollahat Police Station, dated June 15, 2026, a mentally challenged youth named Sheikh Sadi (22), son of Mahatab Sheikh of Dariyala village under Mollahat Upazila, was found in the Kaligati Bazar area on June 16. Following instructions from Chitalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Begum Rokeya, police contacted his family and later handed him over to his father.


Meanwhile, police arrested four accused persons—Habibullah Kazi (Habu Kazi), Selim Mallik, Sohel Kazi, and Din Islam Mallik—from Hijla village in connection with a warrant issued in Speedy Trial Case No. 46/26 (Chitalmari). In another operation, Pronoy Pandey of Babuyana village was arrested as a convicted fugitive.


During an anti-drug drive, police recovered 75 grams of cannabis from Bandhan Mridha of Dori Umazuri village. A case was filed against him under Case No. 05 of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. In a separate raid, 17 Yaba tablets were recovered from Imon Sheikh of Borobaria (Charpara) village, and a case was filed under Case No. 07, GR No. 77.


A mobile court operation also resulted in the detention and punishment of Ibrahim Sheikh, Nayan, and Ruhul Amin Sheikh for various offences. They admitted their offences before the court of Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khadiza Akter.


The operations were carried out by ASI Md. Jahangir Alam, SI ASM Sakib Niaz, SI Liton Kumar Biswas, ASI Md. Mahidul Islam Sheikh, ASI Sajal Kumar Roy, SI Sujoy Kumar Mallik, SI Abdus Salam, SI Shahin, ASI Akter, and ASI Ratan.


After the arrests, all 10 accused persons were produced before the Bagerhat court. OC Begum Rokeya said that police operations against drugs, criminal activities, and wanted suspects are continuing regularly. She added that Chitalmari Police Station is working with the highest priority to maintain law and order and ensure the rule of law in the area.
