A semi-pucca shop at Chandranagar Bazar in Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram has allegedly been forcibly occupied after its lock was broken. A man named Yasin has filed a written complaint with Bayezid Bostami Police Station against another man, Mokbul, over the alleged incident.

In the complaint filed with the police on August 2, 2026, Yasin claimed that Mokbul is a resident of the same area and accused him of being involved in fraud and illegal land grabbing.

According to the complaint, Yasin purchased the semi-pucca shop, built on a piece of land in the Chandranagar area of Bayezid Bostami, from Fazlul Kabir Majumdar on December 17, 2025, through a non-judicial stamp and deed. After taking possession of the shop, he rented it out.

The complaint states that after the tenant left the shop and moved elsewhere, Mokbul allegedly broke the lock without Yasin's permission and forcibly took possession of the premises.

Yasin further claimed that when he asked Mokbul about the matter, the latter allegedly ignored his request and instead threatened and intimidated him in various ways. Local influential people were later informed and an attempt was made to resolve the dispute socially, but Mokbul allegedly did not attend the meeting. As a result, Yasin claimed that the shop remains under forcible occupation.

The complaint further states that around 6pm on July 30, 2026, Yasin had an argument with Mokbul at Chandranagar Bazar over the matter. At one point, Mokbul allegedly verbally abused him and acted aggressively. He also allegedly threatened to file a false case against Yasin if he attempted to enter the shop.

Yasin later informed the shop's seller about the incident, who advised him to seek legal assistance. He subsequently filed the written complaint with the police seeking necessary legal action.

Mokbul could not be reached for comment regarding the allegations.

Police sources said the matter would be investigated based on the complaint and necessary legal action would be taken if the allegations are substantiated.
