Even while
living thousands of miles away from the country, the pull of Brahmanbaria’s
soil never fades. The expatriates from Brahmanbaria living in Portugal proved
this once again. When Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, founder and chairman of
Bhuiyan Global Foundation and a member of Brahmanbaria District BNP, arrived in
Portugal on a business trip, the Brahmanbaria Community Portugal organized a
colorful reception program to welcome him. In the active presence of expatriate
Bangladeshis and a festive atmosphere, the event featured extensive discussions
on Brahmanbaria’s development potential, expatriate welfare, and national
politics.
The program
was presided over by Kazi Anwar Hossain Kaif, President of Brahmanbaria
Community Portugal. It was conducted by the organization’s Senior Vice
President Kazi Moinul Islam and Member Secretary Sohag Hasan.
Prominent
community figure, former student leader and Joint Convenor of Portugal BNP’s
Convening Committee Shamsuzzaman Zaman was present as the chief speaker. In his
speech, he emphasized the patriotism of expatriates, their sincerity towards
Brahmanbaria, and the constructive role of expatriates in national politics.
Special
guests who delivered speeches included Portugal BNP Joint Convenor M.K. Nasir,
Senior Member of the Convening Committee Shafiquzzaman Chowdhury, Badrul Islam,
Croat ia BNP Member Secretary Shahiduzzaman Reza, Portugal BNP leaders Rubel
Chowdhury, Jubel Ahmed, Kazi Jewel, Shahan Omar, Gaffar Ahmed, Community
Advisor Mia Sohel, and Portugal Jubo Dal leader S.M. Kawsar Alam. Leaders from
JASAS, Swecchasebak Dal and other associate organizations, along with Jahed
Ahmed, Rajan Ahmed and many others, were also present.
In the
program, Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan warmly welcomed the expatriates and said that
expatriates do not only send remittances — they are the main force behind the
country’s image, economy and development. He particularly noted that the
experience, sincerity and investment mindset of expatriates form the major
foundation of his development vision to advance every potential sector of
Brahmanbaria. He stated that he wants to build Brahmanbaria as a modern,
employment-rich and developed district centering on the strength of
expatriates.
He further
said that the reputation earned by expatriate Brahmanbarians across different
countries of the world is an invaluable asset for the development of the
district and the progress of Bangladesh. He also reiterated his commitment to
stand by the expatriates.
At the end
of the program, expatriate leaders presented floral greetings and souvenir
gifts to Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan. He then held a long discussion with the
expatriates on local problems, investment opportunities, expatriate welfare,
and the future development of Brahmanbaria.
