Even while living thousands of miles away from the country, the pull of Brahmanbaria’s soil never fades. The expatriates from Brahmanbaria living in Portugal proved this once again. When Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, founder and chairman of Bhuiyan Global Foundation and a member of Brahmanbaria District BNP, arrived in Portugal on a business trip, the Brahmanbaria Community Portugal organized a colorful reception program to welcome him. In the active presence of expatriate Bangladeshis and a festive atmosphere, the event featured extensive discussions on Brahmanbaria’s development potential, expatriate welfare, and national politics.

The program was presided over by Kazi Anwar Hossain Kaif, President of Brahmanbaria Community Portugal. It was conducted by the organization’s Senior Vice President Kazi Moinul Islam and Member Secretary Sohag Hasan.

Prominent community figure, former student leader and Joint Convenor of Portugal BNP’s Convening Committee Shamsuzzaman Zaman was present as the chief speaker. In his speech, he emphasized the patriotism of expatriates, their sincerity towards Brahmanbaria, and the constructive role of expatriates in national politics.

Nasir, Senior Member of the Convening Committee Shafiquzzaman Chowdhury, Badrul Islam, Croat ia BNP Member Secretary Shahiduzzaman Reza, Portugal BNP leaders Rubel Chowdhury, Jubel Ahmed, Kazi Jewel, Shahan Omar, Gaffar Ahmed, Community Advisor Mia Sohel, and Portugal Jubo Dal leader S.M. Kawsar Alam. Leaders from JASAS, Swecchasebak Dal and other associate organizations, along with Jahed Ahmed, Rajan Ahmed and many others, were also present.

In the program, Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan warmly welcomed the expatriates and said that expatriates do not only send remittances — they are the main force behind the country’s image, economy and development. He particularly noted that the experience, sincerity and investment mindset of expatriates form the major foundation of his development vision to advance every potential sector of Brahmanbaria. He stated that he wants to build Brahmanbaria as a modern, employment-rich and developed district centering on the strength of expatriates.

He further said that the reputation earned by expatriate Brahmanbarians across different countries of the world is an invaluable asset for the development of the district and the progress of Bangladesh. He also reiterated his commitment to stand by the expatriates.

At the end of the program, expatriate leaders presented floral greetings and souvenir gifts to Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan. He then held a long discussion with the expatriates on local problems, investment opportunities, expatriate welfare, and the future development of Brahmanbaria.
