Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr.
Shahadat Hossain distributed relief assistance among 2,000
families affected by flooding and waterlogging in Ward No. 19
(South Bakalia) of Chattogram city.
The relief distribution took place on Sunday afternoon in different parts of South Bakalia. Speaking at the event, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said that standing beside people during times of disaster is both a moral and humanitarian responsibility. He noted that the Chattogram City Corporation has been providing continuous relief support to ensure that no affected family remains hungry or suffers unnecessarily. He also assured residents that the city corporation would continue to stand by them during any emergency.
The mayor added that the corporation is not
only distributing relief but is also working relentlessly to reduce
waterlogging, rehabilitate affected areas, and ease public suffering. He
emphasized that tackling disasters requires collective efforts and urged
citizens to play an active role in keeping the city clean.
He further stated that protecting people's
lives and ensuring their safety remain the corporation's top priority. Rescue
operations, support at shelters, food distribution, and efforts to remove
floodwater are being carried out jointly by the city corporation and other
relevant agencies. These activities, he said, will continue until the situation
returns to normal.
Reaffirming the city's commitment to public welfare, the mayor said every possible effort is being made to ensure that all disaster-affected residents receive the assistance they need. Local political and social leaders, officials and employees of the Chattogram City Corporation, and other prominent community members were present at the relief distribution program.
