Brahmanbaria Bureau Chief: Sanjib Bhattacharjee
Lion Firozur Rahman Olio, the newly elected Chairman of Standard Islami Bank PLC, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Asaduzzaman Khan, Editor and Publisher of the highly esteemed daily Bangladesh Shomachar and the English newspaper Bangladesh Diary. The meeting was held recently in the capital.
Present on the occasion was Sanjib Bhattacharjee, Brahmanbaria District Bureau Chief of Bangladesh Samachar and Bangladesh Diary. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the bank’s Islamic banking activities, social responsibility and future plans. They also exchanged views on strengthening Shariah-based banking activities as well as taking various public welfare initiatives at different levels of society.
Lion Firozur Rahman Olio has recently been elected Chairman of Standard Islami Bank. He assumed this responsibility after serving as a sponsor director of the bank. He is a former District Governor of Lions Clubs International, District 315 B2, Bangladesh, and a PMJF Lion.
He is particularly known for his philanthropy and social service. He was the former Chairman of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila and a five-time consecutively elected Chairman of Sultanpur Union Parishad. Since 2005, he has been providing cash and clothing to persons with disabilities in Sultanpur Union from his own funds. In addition, he has stood by the side of the sick and the destitute. He is the founder Chairman of Firozur Rahman Foundation and has long been associated with the Governing Body of New Model Degree College in Dhaka.
With this philanthropist and distinguished son of Brahmanbaria assuming the top position in the banking sector, joy and enthusiasm are prevailing among the people of Brahmanbaria. In this long conversation, discussions were also held on the country’s economic development and the future of the Islamic banking industry.
