Allegations of death threats to a mortgagor, attempts to misappropriate property, and holding tenants hostage, breaking the CCTV and stealing everything from the room at night have been raised against building owner Rozy Khondakar, her daughter Kaniz Fatima Nipa and son-in-law Mohammad Saiful Islam Sumon, as well as her elder daughter Monira Tasnim Mishu and son-in-law Mohammad Maruf in Mohakhali of the capital. In this incident, the victim Humayun Kabir has filed a General Diary (GD) and a case at the police station. The case is currently under investigation.
According to the complaint, Humayun Kabir has been living on the third floor of Rozy Khondakar’s house in Mohakhali since 2024 after taking the house on mortgage. He paid Tk 30 lakh to Rozy Khondakar against the mortgage. As per the agreement, if the money could not be repaid, the flat was to be transferred to Humayun Kabir. He resides in the flat on the basis of the mortgage, not as a tenant.
About one and a half months ago, Humayun Kabir’s elder brother suddenly fell ill with cancer. He went to his village home for his treatment. At that time he received information that Rozy Khondakar and her daughter Kaniz Fatima Nipa, with the help of others, forcibly entered his residence, broke the CCTV camera chip and other belongings and made them disappear. They held the tenants hostage while doing this and stole everything from the room at night. He expressed concern that the valuable items in his room had been looted.
After this incident, Humayun Kabir was threatened over the phone on 9 August. He was told on the phone, “You have come home; now you will not have to return from the house.” Frightened by this, he filed a General Diary (GD) at the police station.
On the other hand, Rozy Khondakar’s daughter and sons-in-law have filed a case in court with the intention of grabbing their mother’s property. Earlier, Rozy Khondakar had allegedly obtained the property from her husband through fraud. Her daughter Kaniz Fatima Nipa filed a case in this regard. Not only the case, they have been pursuing their mother in the hope of obtaining the property and at one stage also held a press conference.
Local sources say that Rozy Khondakar and her daughter Kaniz Fatima Nipa have long been leading an immoral life. There are also allegations that they engage in sexual relations in exchange for money. In addition, Rozy Khondakar physically and mentally tortured her husband Monjur for a long time, and at one stage he died. Her character is so bad that she goes to many people to satisfy her sexual desire. Rozy Khondakar had a long-standing extramarital relationship with a person named Liton. When her husband came to know about this relationship and objected, she mentally tortured and killed her husband. In all these immoral activities, Rozy is assisted by her caregiver Dilip.
It is to be noted that Humayun Kabir and his wife came to know about Rozy’s extramarital relationship with Liton suddenly one year ago. Because of knowing this, they tried to evict them and continued to threaten them regularly.
These incidents have created a sensation in the area. Local residents have demanded that the administration conduct a rapid investigation and take strict legal measures against the culprits.
