Sheikh Rajib Al Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampal Police Station in Bagerhat, died after suffering a heart attack. He was declared dead by doctors at Khulna Medical College Hospital at around 1:20 am on Wednesday night (October 7).
Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Jamirul Islam confirmed the death. He said Rajib Al Rashid suddenly fell ill at night and was being taken from Rampal to Khulna for treatment. He was later taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.
His funeral prayer was held at the police lines on Thursday morning. Another prayer is scheduled to be held after Zuhr prayers at his family home in Aichgati, Khulna. He will later be buried at the family graveyard.
Rajib Al Rashid is survived by his wife, a 10-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter.
