Graffiti has been drawn at Dhaka College in memory of Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the national election. The graffiti was painted on the college walls on Sunday (28 December), bearing the message: “Where slavery is the stagnant destiny of a land, struggle is the highest form of worship.”

The capital's people and other parts of the country have been staging continuous protests for justice, blockades, and hunger strikes demanding a fair trial for the killing of Hadi. Alongside these movements, students of various colleges and universities have been painting graffiti on campus walls in his remembrance. As part of this ongoing effort, the students of Dhaka College also joined taht.

Saikat, president of the Inqilab Moncho Dhaka College unit, said that Shaheed Osman Hadi once declared, “I will give my life, but I will never give up July.” He noted that this was not merely a slogan, but a symbol of firm resistance against injustice. The graffiti was created to carry forward the spirit and ideals left behind by Hadi, so that the new generation may draw inspiration from his courage and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, following a meeting of the Law and Order Core Committee at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated at a press conference that the trial of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi’s murder would be completed within the tenure of the interim government.

It may be recalled that Osman Hadi was shot on 12 December in Old Paltan, Dhaka. After receiving treatment at several hospitals, he was later flown to Singapore for advanced medical care. He passed away while undergoing treatment on 18 December. After a state funeral, he was laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the University of Dhaka.
