The funeral prayer (Janaza) of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, after Zuhr prayers at the South Plaza of the National Parliament and the adjacent Manik Mia Avenue. She will be laid to rest beside the grave of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
A special meeting of the Advisory Council was held on Tuesday at the State Guest House Jamuna, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the meeting as a special invitee
He informed the council of the decisions regarding Khaleda Zia’s funeral and burial arrangements. The information was later confirmed through a press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing
Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at 6:00 am today (Tuesday) while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un)
Prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the soul of the three-time former Prime Minister, a steadfast leader of the democratic movement, and BNP Chairperson. The prayer was led by Religious Affairs Adviser A F M Khalid Hossain.
The Advisory Council also decided to announce:
Three days of state mourning, starting from Wednesday A one-day general holiday tomorrow.
