Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said that various conspiracies are still ongoing in the country’s political arena. He alleged that some are acting openly while others are working behind the scenes, urging party leaders and activists to confront such activities politically.

He made the remarks on Saturday evening while addressing a BNP workers’ gathering at the Sylhet Shilpakala Academy in Sylhet.

Tarique Rahman said that maintaining public support requires staying connected with ordinary people at all times. He warned that political strength weakens when a party becomes detached from the public.

Addressing party members, the prime minister urged them to avoid internal divisions and group-based politics. He called on leaders not to label others as belonging to a particular faction, saying such practices increase distance and division within the organization.

He also noted that party leaders and activists had brought the party to its current position through years of movement and struggle. Therefore, he said, no one should behave in a way that causes pain or resentment among fellow party workers. He further emphasized the importance of responsibility toward the party and mutual respect.

Although currently leading the government, Tarique Rahman said leaders should first see themselves as party workers. If someone makes a mistake, he said, they should first be advised and corrected; organizational action should only follow if they fail to change.

Ahead of upcoming local government elections, he also instructed party leaders to develop plans within the next three months to strengthen engagement with the public.

The gathering was chaired by acting president of Sylhet city BNP, Rezaul Hasan Lodi Qayes, and attended by leaders from district and metropolitan BNP units. Earlier in the day, the prime minister participated in several meetings and inaugurated multiple development projects in Sylhet.
