Motorcyclist Dies After Two-Day Battle for Life Following Road Accident in Fakirhat

A 24-year-old motorcyclist, Md. Mridul Sarkar, who was critically injured in a road accident in Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat, has died while undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

 

Mridul Sarkar, son of Milon Sarkar of Putia village under Mulghar Union in Fakirhat Upazila, succumbed to his injuries around 10:00 am on Saturday (July 11), after battling for his life for nearly 48 hours.

 

According to family members and police, the accident occurred around 10:00 am on July 9 when Mridul was riding his motorcycle from his home to Fakirhat Bazar. Upon reaching the Attaki area, his motorcycle collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction, leaving him seriously injured.

 

Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, where he passed away on Saturday morning.

 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman Hawlader of Morelganj Highway Police Station confirmed the incident, saying that the bus involved in the accident has been seized. However, the driver and his assistant fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police are conducting efforts to arrest them, and legal proceedings are underway.

 

The tragic death has cast a shadow of grief over the victim's family and the local community.
