A day-long
Farmers’ Field School Congress was held in Chitalmari Upazila of Bagerhat to
promote modern, sustainable, and nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices
among local farmers.
The event
took place on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at
the Upazila Parishad Auditorium under the Agricultural and Rural Transformation
for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNER) project.
The program was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE),
Chitalmari.
The chief
guest was Md. Moshiur Rahman Khan, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-1. Special
guests included Md. Mohaddek Hossain, Senior Monitoring Officer of the PARTNER
Project, Khulna Region, and Ramesh Chandra Ghosh, Additional Deputy Director
(Crops), Department of Agricultural Extension, Bagerhat.
The welcome
address was delivered by Md. Sifat Al-Maruf, Upazila Agriculture Officer, while
the program was presided over by Khadija Akter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO)
of Chitalmari.
Farmers from
different unions of the upazila participated in the congress and shared their
field experiences and success stories. Discussions focused on modern farming
technologies, climate-resilient agriculture, safe food production,
nutrition-sensitive farming, and rural entrepreneurship development.
Speaking at
the event, the chief guest emphasized the importance of adopting modern
agricultural technologies and strengthening farmers’ skills through training
and extension services. He noted that such initiatives are essential for
increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring sustainable rural
development.
Organizers
said the congress provided an effective platform for knowledge sharing among
farmers and agricultural professionals, contributing to improved crop
production, food security, and the overall socio-economic development of rural
communities.
