Among the state-owned commercial banks, Janata Bank PLC has set a new milestone in innovative services. At the Innovation Showcasing 2025–2026, organized by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, the bank’s own digital payment gateway, Janata Pay, won the First Prize as the Best Innovative Product.
On Monday (6
July), at the award-giving ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall of the
Ministry of Finance at the Secretariat, Finance and Planning Adviser Amir
Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, as the chief guest, handed over the honorary crest to
Md. Mojibur Rahman, Managing Director of Janata Bank PLC. The অনুষ্ঠানে was chaired by Nazma Mobarek,
Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
The award
was presented in recognition of Janata Pay’s significant contribution to
ensuring digital transformation in the banking sector, secure and easy online
transactions, and the expansion of customer-friendly services. Through this
platform, customers are enjoying safer, faster, and easier digital financial
transaction facilities.
Officials
associated with the bank believe that under the leadership of Managing Director
Md. Mojibur Rahman, Janata Bank has achieved remarkable progress in ensuring
good governance, expanding technology-driven services, and restoring customer
confidence. Once faced with various challenges, the bank is now demonstrating
its ability to make a strong comeback through improved service quality,
modernization, and innovative initiatives. This national recognition is being
regarded as an important milestone in that journey.
It was
informed at the ceremony that, based on the evaluation of innovative services,
technology-driven activities, and contributions to service improvement by the
offices and organizations under the Financial Institutions Division, five
institutions were awarded as the best innovative initiatives in five
categories.
Among the
other award-winning institutions are: Probashi Kallyan Bank in the State-Owned
Specialized Bank category for its e-Migration Loan Processing Service (EMLPS);
the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority in the Regulatory Authority
category for its Insurance Mobile App; the Bangladesh House Building Finance
Corporation in the Financial Institution category for its Automation of the
Document Return Process; and the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in the
Other Institutions category for its GIS-Based Supervision and Monitoring
System.
According to
the Financial Institutions Division, institutions under its jurisdiction are
continuously implementing innovative initiatives to ensure transparency,
accountability, and people-friendly financial services. As part of that
initiative, these awards were presented in recognition of outstanding
contributions to innovative services, the effective use of technology, and the
improvement of service quality.
