Civic Condolence Meeting and Prayer Held in Memory of Former Acting Head Teacher Tofayel Ahmed

A civic condolence meeting and prayer session was held in memory of Tofayel Ahmed BSc, former acting head teacher of the historic Naigaish Zahidul Hossain High School in Brahmanpara, Cumilla.

 

The programme was organised by the Zahidul Hossain High School Alumni Association on the school premises, with participation from people of all sections of Naigaish as well as former and current students of the institution.

 

The condolence meeting was chaired by Dr. Sohel Rana, an alumnus of the 1996 batch and a upazila Health Officer, while Asadur Rahman, a teacher at Cumilla Police Lines School, moderated the programme.

 

Among those who addressed the gathering were Khalil Uddin Akhand, Principal of Naigaish Government College; Mosharraf Hossain, former head teacher of Zahidul Hossain High School; Golam Rabbani, the current acting head teacher; former teachers Hanif Bhuiyan, Monirul Haque and Md. Mobarak Hossain; Rafiqul Islam, Head Teacher of Shashidal Union High School; Abul Kalam Azad, Superintendent of Baradhushia Madrasa; Latif Member, Professor Bazlur Rahman, Dr. Monir Hossain, Masud Rana and other prominent local residents.

 

Former students recalled Tofail Ahmed’s contribution as a dedicated teacher and spoke about his close relationship with generations of students. They expressed their commitment to standing beside the bereaved family and preserving the memory of their beloved teacher.

 

Speakers included Gazi Md. Shahjalal, General Secretary of the Zahidul Hossain High School Alumni Association, and Mohammad Monir Hossain, Lecturer in the Department of Management at Cumilla Victoria College and Organising Secretary of the association.

 

Several former students and alumni also delivered batch-wise tributes, including Banker Abdur Nur Ferdous, Jasim Uddin, Jalal Uddin, Ariful Islam, Abdullah Al Mamun, Sazzad Hossain, Sadekur Rahman, Ahmed Moshtaq, Dr. Ferdous Alam, Nazrul Islam, Hridoy and Tofazzal, among others.

 

Former students living abroad also joined the programme virtually and shared their memories of the late teacher. Among them were Jewel Ahmed, a UK expatriate; Nazrul Islam, based in Canada; Bayezid Rahman and Abdul Al Mamun, based in the United States; Associate Professor Md. Ariful Islam, a PhD researcher; and Mohammad Ala Uddin.

 

Imon Reza, Convener of the Programme Implementation Committee, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to organising the event.

 

The programme concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for the departed soul of Tofayel Ahmed.

 

The organisers said the condolence meeting and prayer session was made possible through the financial and overall support of former students of Zahidul Hossain High School living both at home and abroad.
