The government has provided a training vehicle to the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre (BKTTC) in Chattogram to meet the demand for skilled drivers in domestic and international labour markets and further modernise driving training programmes.

The vehicle was handed over to the centre on October 15 under the project titled Domestic and Foreign Driving. The initiative was undertaken at the initiative of the Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

The addition of the new training vehicle is expected to modernise and accelerate driving training activities at BKTTC. It will provide trainees with opportunities to develop practical driving skills through hands-on training and real-world learning experiences.

The training programme will cover essential driving techniques, basic vehicle maintenance, compliance with traffic laws, road safety management and professional responsibility. By acquiring these skills, trainees will be better equipped to establish themselves as professional drivers.

One of the key objectives of the project is to increase the number of skilled drivers in Bangladesh and expand employment opportunities in overseas labour markets. Improved access to modern training facilities is expected to enhance trainees’ skills and competitiveness in the workplace.

Trained and responsible drivers are also expected to play an important role in improving road safety.

Speaking to the divisional bureau chief of the national daily Bangladesh Samachar, Palash Kumar Barua, principal of the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre in Chattogram, said the new training vehicle would make driving instruction easier and more effective.

“With this training vehicle, our driving training activities will become easier and more dynamic. Trainees will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of driving, basic vehicle maintenance, traffic laws and road safety. We hope this will help us develop skilled and trained drivers and prepare a workforce suitable for employment at home and abroad,” he said.

The addition of the new training vehicle to BKTTC is being viewed as a positive step towards developing a skilled workforce. Those concerned expect the initiative to expand access to local driving training and strengthen efforts to produce skilled drivers for employment in domestic and international labour markets.

Palash Kumar Barua: Advancing Skills Development Through Dedicated Leadership

Technical training centres play a vital role in realising the vision of building a self-reliant Bangladesh through technical education and skills development. Leadership, a sense of responsibility and effective planning are essential to achieving this goal. Palash Kumar Barua, principal of the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre in Chattogram, is among the officials involved in these efforts.

Technical training centres are particularly important in developing skilled human resources, creating opportunities for young people to receive job-oriented training and preparing workers for domestic and international labour markets. Improving training standards, adopting modern technology and ensuring a practical learning environment have become increasingly important.

Stakeholders hope that under Barua’s leadership, the activities of the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre (BKTTC) in Chattogram will become more dynamic and effective. The centre has further scope to expand its role in preparing young people to become skilled drivers, technical professionals and workers suited to the demands of international labour markets.

The success of an institutional head is not limited to administrative responsibilities. It is also reflected in trainees’ skills development, increased employment opportunities and public confidence in the institution. Continued progress in these areas under Barua’s leadership would be a welcome development.

His initiatives and efforts are expected to contribute further to the expansion of technical education, the development of skilled human resources and the improvement of employment-oriented training. The Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre in Chattogram is expected to emerge as an effective institution for skills development and the creation of a more promising future.
