Assistant Professor Shehrin Amin
Bhuiya (Monami) of the Department of Public Administration at University of
Dhaka has stepped down from her role as Assistant Proctor of the university.
According to university sources, she officially submitted her resignation
letter on Monday morning.
The
matter was confirmed by the university’s Acting Proctor, Professor Md. Israfil
Prang (Israfil Ratan). He said that Shehrin Amin Bhuiya informed him over the
phone in the morning about submitting her resignation letter. However, as he
was attending a meeting at the time, he could not provide detailed information
regarding the reason behind the resignation.
Earlier,
in a post shared on her verified Facebook page, Shehrin Amin Bhuiya stated that
she had not initially planned to take on any administrative responsibility at
the beginning of her teaching career. However, on August 28, 2024, she accepted
the position of Assistant Proctor at the request of then-Proctor Professor

role as a young teacher as an honor.
In
the post, she further wrote that over the past two years, she learned valuable
lessons from Professor Saifuddin Ahmed regarding patience, crisis management,
and carrying out responsibilities while maintaining self-respect. She also
mentioned several experiences from recent times.
Notably,
just a day earlier on Sunday, Professor Saifuddin Ahmed also resigned from his
position as Proctor of University of Dhaka. Following his resignation,
Associate Professor Md. Israfil Prang of the Department of Graphic Design under
the Faculty of Fine Arts was appointed as the Acting Proctor. Professor
Saifuddin Ahmed cited personal reasons for stepping down.
After
the student-public movement, Professor Saifuddin Ahmed had assumed the role of
Proctor of University of Dhaka on August 28, 2024.
