On the occasion of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return to the country after a long 17 years, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP organized a colorful grand rally to welcome him. The massive procession was held on December 25, 2025, with leaders and activists of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP marching toward the reception venue along the 300 Feet Road.
Earlier, on the night of December 24 at around 10:00 PM, leaders and activists of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP gathered and stayed overnight at the International City Convention Hall adjacent to the Bashundhara Residential Area. From there, they began their journey the next morning to participate in the reception rally.
During the procession, party leaders and activists carried various banners, festoons, and placards. Leaders and activists from different police stations and wards of Gazipur Metropolitan City joined the rally spontaneously. The entire event was marked by a vibrant, festive, and celebratory atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP President Shawkat Hossain Sarkar said,
“On the occasion of the homecoming of our leader Tarique Rahman after 17 long years, the capital city Dhaka has been adorned in colorful decorations. The festive spirit has now spread across the entire country. The return of our beloved leader has created an emotional and joyous moment in the hearts of the people.”
Meanwhile, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP General Secretary and BNP’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Gazipur-2 constituency, M. Manjurul Karim Rony, said in a statement,
“On the occasion of the homecoming of Tarique Rahman, the worthy son of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, I sincerely express my gratitude to the leaders and activists of the metropolitan, police station, and ward committees for organizing such a massive procession.”
He further added,
“After 17 long years, all speculations have come to an end with the return of Tarique Rahman to the country—this is a historic moment for the BNP. We expect that in the upcoming election, BNP will achieve a landslide victory nationwide, and our leader Tarique Rahman will assume state power as Prime Minister.”
