Marking the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid tribute at the graves of party founder and former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
On Tuesday (September 1) morning, the prime minister visited the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia in the capital’s Agargaon area and offered his respects.
From early morning, BNP leaders and activists gathered at Zia Udyan with enthusiasm to mark the party’s founding anniversary. Groups of activists arrived in processions from different areas and chanted party slogans.
Party leaders said the BNP must be further organised and strengthened by upholding the political ideals and vision of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. They also called for united efforts to strengthen democracy, protect the country’s sovereignty and establish the rights of the people.
BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Nurul Islam Moni, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and other party leaders were present during the tribute.
