A housewife in Barabkunda Union of Sitakunda
Upazila in Chattogram has alleged that an armed group attempted to rape her at
knifepoint and looted cash and a mobile phone during a late-night home invasion
on Thursday. The victim's family has filed a written complaint with Sitakunda
Police Station, naming a local যুবক as the
principal accused.
According to the victim's family, a group of
five to six armed individuals entered the residence of Bilap Das in the
Jelepara area of Ward No. 8 under Barabkunda Union. They alleged that the
intruders held Bilap Das's wife, Puja Das (19), at knifepoint
and attempted to sexually assault her.
The family said that when the victim screamed
for help, other family members rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to
flee. Before escaping, they allegedly took around BDT 30,000
in cash and a smartphone from the house.
The family identified the main accused as Rabiul
Hossain (29), son of Jarip Ali, a resident of the same locality. They
also alleged that his elder brother, Lokman, and several
others were involved in the incident.
Local residents claimed that Rabiul and his
associates had long been accused of engaging in criminal activities and unruly
behavior in the area.
Following the incident, Puja Das, her husband
Bilap Das, and family members Amal Das and Shanti Rani Das submitted a written
complaint to Sitakunda Police Station.
The victim's family said they are living in
fear after the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused as
well as exemplary punishment if the allegations are proven.
Police at Sitakunda Police Station confirmed that they had received the written complaint. They said the allegations are being investigated with due importance and that legal action will be taken, including the arrest of those responsible, if the allegations are substantiated through the investigation.
