In a
remarkable act of compassion, Khadija Akter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of
Chitalmari in Bagerhat, has extended financial assistance to an underprivileged
madrasa student by purchasing a complete set of essential religious books,
enabling him to continue his education.
The
beneficiary, Hafez Md. Mahdi Molla, is the son of day laborer Magfur Rahman
Molla from Char Kuraltala village in Chitalmari Upazila. He is currently a
Dawra-e-Hadith student at Miyapara Qawmi Madrasa in Madaripur.
Due to
severe financial hardship, Mahdi was unable to afford the required set of books
for his studies, putting his education at risk. He, along with his father, met
UNO Khadija Akter and explained their difficult situation.
Moved by the
student's circumstances, the UNO immediately responded with humanitarian
support. In addition to government assistance, she contributed from her
personal funds and purchased a complete set of 20 essential books worth approximately
Tk 23,000.
On Monday
(July 27), at around 10:00 a.m., UNO Khadija Akter formally handed over the
books to Mahdi Molla and his father at her office.
Receiving
the books, Mahdi and his family expressed their heartfelt gratitude, saying the
assistance had removed a major obstacle to his education and inspired him to
continue his studies with renewed determination.
The
initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents, who described it as
a shining example of compassion and commitment to education.
Since
joining Chitalmari Upazila, 36th BCS Administration Cadre officer Khadija Akter
has earned praise for her humanitarian initiatives, educational support, and
people-oriented administrative services, making a positive impact on the lives
of many underprivileged citizens.
