Bangladeshi musician and actor Pritom Hasan and model-actress and singer Shehtaz Monira Hashmi are ending their marriage, saying major differences in mutual understanding have led them to decide to go their separate ways.

The couple announced their decision in separate Facebook posts on Sunday (October 4) night. Shehtaz later confirmed the matter.

Pritom said they had decided to end their marital relationship after nearly a decade together. Expressing gratitude for the time, memories and experiences they shared, he said they would always retain respect and goodwill toward each other.

Explaining the reason for the separation, Pritom said they had gradually realised that, due to significant differences in their mutual understanding, moving forward separately would be better for both of them.

He said the decision was not made suddenly. After considerable thought, discussions between themselves, and with the support and consent of their families, they reached the decision. Their divorce proceedings are currently underway, he added.

Shehtaz echoed Pritom’s statement in her Facebook post, saying they had decided to end their long-standing relationship mutually and amicably. She also said she would always maintain respect and extend her best wishes to Pritom.

Both requested their friends, colleagues and the media to respect their privacy and personal space during this period of change in their lives.

Pritom and Shehtaz first met through their professional work. Shehtaz appeared as a model in the music video for Pritom’s song “Jadukar.” They met while working on the project in 2017, and their professional relationship later developed into a romantic one.

After a long-term relationship, they married on October 29, 2022, at a hotel in Sreemangal in the presence of family members and close friends. As recently as January this year, Pritom and Shehtaz were seen together at the wedding ceremony of musician Zefar Rahman and content creator Rafsan Sabab.
