Police have recovered the bodies of four
members of the same family from a house in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon. The
bodies were rescued Wednesday morning around 8:00 AM from Bahadurpur village, confirmed
Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman of the local Thana.
The those killed identified as Habibur Rahman
(35), his wife Popy Khatun (30), and their two children—Parvez Hossain (10) and
Sadia Khatun (3).
According to police, Habibur Rahman and his
wife were killed by having their throats slit, while their two children were beaten to death with blows to the head. Parvez
was a fifth-grade student at Bahadur Government Primary School.
Police and local sources said Habibur Rahman
was a cattle trader. He returned home Monday night around 8:00 PM after selling cattle at a local market in Manda and was
carrying approximately 280,000 taka.
Investigators suspect that criminals
entered the house with the intention of robbery
and killed the family
members to avoid identification. Gold
ornaments were also reportedly looted from the house, including earrings taken from
Popy Khatun.
Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman said the initial investigation suggests the killings were carried out during a robbery. Police are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend those involved.
