A new committee of the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Alumni Association, Michigan, USA has been formed through the initiative of former students of Bangladesh Agricultural University residing in the US state of Michigan.
The brief committee was unanimously announced at a reunion program held on Saturday (December 20) at a Bangladeshi restaurant in Warren City, Michigan. Professor Dr. Kamrul Mazumder of the University of Michigan was nominated as President, while Saif Siddiqui (Ananta), Manager Engineer at Stellantis, was nominated as General Secretary.
The matter was confirmed on Monday (December 22) by the newly elected General Secretary, Engineer Saif Siddiqui.
Other members of the newly formed committee include Dr. Mojahar Hossain Ahmad, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, as Vice President, and Dr. Md. Abdul Halim (Sohel), IT Officer at Stellantis, as Organizing Secretary. In addition, Senior Agriculturist Belayet Hossain and Agriculturist Abu Hossain Jewel were nominated as Advisers to the association.
Despite bone-chilling cold and snowfall, the reunion brought together 15 alumni from various batches of Bangladesh Agricultural University, ranging from the 1975 batch to a 2018 President’s Award–winning graduate. After many years, the participants expressed great joy at reuniting in an organized manner, sharing memories, nostalgia, and engaging in lively discussions.
At the reunion, participants resolved to identify and bring under the association’s umbrella BAU alumni living in Michigan and neighboring states in the future. They also expressed a strong commitment to expanding and energizing the activities of the organization in the days ahead.
