National Youth Day 2026 was celebrated in Bagerhat on Sunday with a series of programmes highlighting youth empowerment, skill development, employment opportunities and self-reliance.
The District Administration and the Department of Youth Development jointly organised the event in the morning. The programme included a discussion meeting, distribution of youth loan cheques, and the presentation of crests and certificates to successful self-employed individuals and youth organisers.
The theme of this year's celebration was “Skilled Youth Will Build the Nation, Bangladesh for All.”
Abdul Kader, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development in Bagerhat, chaired the programme. Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahad, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-2, attended as the chief guest.
Among others, the programme was attended by Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten, District BNP Convener ATM Engineer Akram Hossain Talim, former BNP president MA Salam, Additional District Magistrate Joydeb Chakraborty and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Russel Rahman.
Officials and employees of the Department of Youth Development, representatives of various youth organisations, trainees and young men and women from different parts of the district also attended the event.
The programme highlighted the importance of developing skilled and self-reliant young people through training, financial assistance and entrepreneurship initiatives, enabling them to contribute to the country's socioeconomic development.
