The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted an enforcement operation at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority’s (BRTA) Iquria office following allegations of harassment and demands for bribes from service seekers seeking driving licences, vehicle registration, route permits and fitness certificates.

Officials from the ACC’s Enforcement Unit at its headquarters conducted the operation on Tuesday at the BRTA office in Iquria, Keraniganj.

The ACC said the operation was carried out following allegations of harassment of service seekers, demands for bribes and irregularities in driving licence tests, among other complaints, at the BRTA’s Iquria office.

During the operation, the ACC collected statements from relevant officials and gathered necessary information and documents regarding the allegations.

The commission said further necessary action would be taken after verifying the authenticity of the complaints.
