The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has organised awareness roadshows and campaigns at various locations across the capital to mark National Road Safety Day. This year's theme is “Safe Roads, Prosperous Country; Bangladesh Comes First.”

The programme was held on Thursday (October 22) at four key locations in Dhaka, organised by BRTA's Dhaka Metro Circles 1, 2, 3 and 4 to observe the occasion.

As part of the campaign, handbills and leaflets were distributed at Gabtoli Bus Terminal, Sayedabad Bus Terminal, the road in front of the airport area, and beneath the Kuril Bishwa Road Flyover. Awareness messages on road safety and compliance with traffic laws were also disseminated through loudspeakers.

Participants included Md. Masud Alam, divisional director (engineering) of BRTA in Dhaka, and Engineer Ziaur Rahman, assistant director of Dhaka Metro Circle-1, along with officials and employees from different levels of the organisation.

Representatives of motor vehicle owners and workers, Rover Scouts, the Drivers Welfare Foundation, Nirapad Sarak Chai, and members of the Safe Roads Movement also took part in the programme.
