Businessman and joint convener of Pahartali Thana Jubo Dal, Md Anwar Hossain, has alleged that he is facing death threats and fears for his safety while leading a social movement against drugs in Chattogram’s Pahartali area.

He has submitted a written application to the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioner, seeking protection for himself and his family and demanding necessary legal action.

In his application, Anwar Hossain said he had long been conducting public awareness activities, campaigns and peaceful social initiatives against drugs in Pahartali. He claimed that his efforts to protect young people from the dangers of drug abuse had drawn opposition and threats from several individuals allegedly involved in the drug trade.

The application further stated that he had been subjected to several life-threatening attacks in the past. Following those incidents, he filed a case with Pahartali Police Station, which is currently pending before a court. He expressed concern that continuing his anti-drug activities could expose him to further attacks.

Anwar said he had filed a general diary (GD) with Pahartali Police Station on October 16, 2026, citing concerns about his safety. The GD number is 876. He has sought the CMP commissioner’s intervention to ensure a proper investigation and the necessary legal action.

In his application, Anwar called for security for himself and his family members, due legal proceedings in the pending case concerning the earlier attacks, and an impartial investigation into allegations of drug dealing in Pahartali. He also requested that the officer-in-charge of Pahartali Police Station be instructed to take his security concerns seriously and implement appropriate preventive measures.

Anwar said he was seeking the administration’s assistance not out of personal vengeance, but to protect his life, uphold the rule of law and help society escape the scourge of drugs.

He expressed hope that the relevant authorities would take prompt and effective action under the CMP commissioner’s direction to ensure the safety of him and his family.
