In a statement issued on Sunday night (October 18), he described reports circulating in various media outlets and on social media about the minister’s resignation as fabricated and motivated. He said Hossain continued to perform his official and political duties and had received no resignation directive from the government’s senior leadership.
The statement alleged that certain groups were spreading such information to serve political interests and create confusion among the public.
The press officer also said the minister had already clarified his position regarding an incident in his parliamentary constituency in which he displayed a firearm, reportedly in self-defence and in accordance with the law, amid a situation arising from a social campaign against drugs.
He described reports linking the incident to the minister’s resignation as contrary to journalistic standards.
The statement urged media outlets and members of the public not to be misled by misinformation. It also called on outlets that had published the reports to retract them and publish accurate information, warning that legal action could be taken against those responsible for spreading false claims.
