France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sweden, powered by a brilliant brace from captain Kylian Mbappé, who reached another historic milestone in World Cup history.

Mbappé's two goals took his World Cup tally to 18, moving him past Miroslav Klose's record of 16 goals to become the tournament's second-highest all-time goalscorer. He now trails only Lionel Messi, who leads the chart with 19 World Cup goals. The French star also set a new record for the most goals scored in the knockout stages of the World Cup, with 10.

Mbappé found the net in the 45th and 74th minutes, while Bradley Barcola added France's second goal in the 53rd minute.

France will face Paraguay in the Round of 16 on July 4.
