His body was found beside a staircase on the ground floor of the building at around 11:45am on October 16.
According to sources at the Officers’ Club, Mosharraf Hossain entered the club with his younger daughter at around 10am on Friday. He later left her near the swimming pool and went inside the under-construction building. About an hour later, he was found lying injured and covered in blood on the ground floor.
Mosharraf Hossain was a member of the Officers’ Club and lived with his family in a house in Banani, the capital.
Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of police for the Ramna Division, said Mosharraf Hossain had impaired eyesight. Police initially suspect that he fell from the building’s third floor into an open area on the ground floor. Officers conducted an inquest at the scene.
The deputy commissioner added that the family had expressed unwillingness to have an autopsy. The body will therefore be handed over to the family after completion of the necessary legal procedures.
Family sources said his elder daughter lives in the United States. His funeral will be held after she returns to Bangladesh.
