Iran has suspended its ongoing indirect communications and peace talks with the United States amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and Israel’s military operations in Lebanon. The development was reported on Monday by Iran’s semi-official news agency, Tasnim News Agency.

According to Tehran, the prospects for diplomatic progress have been undermined by Israel’s continued military campaign in Lebanon and alleged violations of ceasefire conditions. As a result, Iran has decided to halt all forms of message exchanges and discussions with Washington through intermediaries for the time being.

The announcement triggered an immediate reaction in global energy markets. Prices of both Brent Crude and West Texas Intermediate rose significantly, fueling renewed concerns among investors about regional instability and potential disruptions to energy supplies.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that an effective ceasefire in Lebanon is essential for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East and for any potential understanding with the United States. The ministry also reaffirmed Iran’s continued support for Lebanon’s resistance movement in the face of Israeli military actions.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly ordered an expansion of military operations in various parts of Lebanon. The move has further heightened tensions and added new uncertainty to the regional situation.

Analysts believe Iran’s decision could introduce a new dimension to the Middle East’s diplomatic landscape and make ongoing efforts to resolve regional conflicts even more complicated. The suspension of dialogue may also increase concerns about broader instability across the region.
