U.S. President Donald Trump is set to deliver his scheduled Independence Day address in Washington despite adverse weather conditions during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Thousands of people were temporarily
evacuated from the National Mall due to the threat of
thunderstorms and possible lightning. However, event organizers confirmed that
the President's speech would proceed as planned.
Extreme heat and unfavorable weather caused
some disruption at the venue, although many supporters remained in attendance.
A fireworks display lasting approximately 40 minutes is
scheduled to follow the speech and is expected to be one of the highlights of
the Independence Day celebrations.
In a post on social media, Trump said he would deliver the address "no matter what." The Independence Day event is being promoted as one of the largest celebrations in U.S. history.
