Two Brokers Sentenced to Jail in Chattogram BRTA Drive

Two individuals have been sentenced to jail for allegedly engaging in brokerage activities inside the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) compound during a mobile court-12 drive conducted under the Chattogram Divisional BRTA office.


During a drive conducted on Wednesday (September 16) at the BRTA Chattogram Metro-2 and Chattogram District Circle offices, one person was sentenced to 25 days and another to 20 days of simple imprisonment.


The convicts were identified as Mohammad Hasan, 45, son of Mohammad Rafique of Mou. Akmal’s house in Notunpara, Hathazari upazila, and Mohammad Imran, 47, son of Mohammad Abdul Malek of Bhuiyan village in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali.


Meanwhile, separate drives were conducted at Bayezid Link Road and the intersection near Cantonment Public School and College in the city.


A total of 11 cases were filed for violations of various provisions of the Road Transport Act, 2018, and Tk 30,000 in fines was collected through the cases.


During the drive, a pickup truck was also detained from Bayezid Link Road.


Executive Magistrate of Mobile Court-12 Fahmida Mustafa led the operation.
